Tyzenhauz Apartments Piwna Street Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Tyzenhauz Apartments? The location on Piwna Street is absolutely perfect, and I mean that in the most practical way possible. I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Gdańsk’s Old Town, and honestly, most of them either put you right in the tourist chaos or stick you somewhere so quiet you feel disconnected from everything. This place hits that sweet spot where you’re literally steps from the main action but tucked away enough that you’re not hearing drunk tourists at 2 AM.
The apartments themselves feel like someone actually lives there – which sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many “apartment-style” places feel like sterile hotel rooms with a kitchenette thrown in. Here, there’s character in the details. The floors have that satisfying creak of old wood (the good kind, not the “is this building falling down” kind), and the windows are these gorgeous tall things that let in amazing light during those long Baltic summer evenings. I particularly loved how quiet it gets once you close the courtyard-facing windows – you can barely hear the street, which is saying something when you’re this close to all the restaurants and bars. The kitchens are actually functional too, not just for show. I mean, you’ve got proper counter space and decent cookware, so if you want to grab some fresh fish from the morning market and cook it yourself, you actually can.
What really sells me on this place is how it feels authentically connected to the neighborhood. The building itself has this weathered brick charm that fits perfectly with the medieval vibe of the area, but inside it’s been updated thoughtfully – modern bathrooms that work properly, reliable Wi-Fi, heating that actually heats. Sometimes these historic conversions feel like you’re roughing it for the sake of atmosphere, but not here. Plus, and this might sound random, but the entry system is so much better than those nightmare key situations you get at some places – you know, where you’re fumbling with three different keys just to get to your room. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward “meet us at this random café” thing that some apartment rentals do. The whole experience just felt… well, easy. And with a 9.4 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’ve got the balance right between authentic local feel and actual comfort.

Very modern apartment and they’d provided so many extras that I’d not had in other apartment stays. Dish washer tablets, washing powder, washing up liquid. The staff were very helpful and quick to respond to messages. Easy key access system. Lovely quiet location with shops and restaurants just around the corner. 5 min walk to Jewish quarter and 30min walk to old town.

Nice, quiet, beautiful, comfort.

Excellent location, 1 minute walk to the embankment, 15 minutes to the Old Town. There are many cafes and restaurants within walking distance. There are paid parking spaces right next to the house (we found a free spot without any problems). The photos are true to reality. We found the house and apartment very quickly and without any problems. The house and furniture are new, everything is clean and tidy. The price is reasonable. We asked to bring an extra set of bedding for the sofa – there were no problems.

Modern apartment with wood laminate flooring, comfy beds and a small balcony in the old ghetto. An easy walk over the river or catch the nearby tram to the old town. We were pleasantly surprised & would definitely stay again. Instructions for collection and deposit of keys perfectly clear.

Nowy apartament w bardzo fajnej lokalizacji. Czysto i przyjemnie, ciepło nawet podczas fali mrozów. Wygodny apartament i wszystko sprawnie działało w trakcie pobytu.

Spora przestrzeń do funkcjonowania.

Idealna lokalizacja. Widok z balkonu akurat na Wisłę. Parking miejski wzdłuż ulicy pod blokiem. Bezproblemowa instrukcja wejścia do mieszkania i w razie potrzeby bezproblemowy kontakt z właścicielami.
