Wawel Cracow Old City Apartments – Friendhouse Apartments Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Wawel Cracow Old City Apartments – Friendhouse Apartments on Zwierzyniecka Street, you immediately get that “I’m in the real Kraków” feeling. This three-star property sits right in Old Town — and I mean properly in the heart of things, not on some sketchy edge where hotels sometimes claim to be central. The building has that authentic Polish character you’re hoping for, without trying too hard to be boutique-y. The location puts you within steps of major attractions and local neighborhoods alike.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re genuinely walking distance from everything that matters in Kraków. The Main Market Square is close enough that you’ll find yourself popping back to your apartment between sightseeing, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re doing the full tourist thing. Wawel Castle (you know, the one the place is named after) is practically on your doorstep. I mean, couples rate the location 8.3 out of 10, and after staying here, I totally get why. The proximity to cultural landmarks and dining venues makes this an ideal base for exploring the city.
The Apartment Setup
These aren’t your typical hotel rooms — they’re actual apartments, which changes the whole experience. You get a proper kitchen setup, so you can grab fresh bread and local cheese from the nearby markets instead of paying hotel prices for everything. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, though everything’s clean and well-maintained. What really surprised me was how comfortable the beds are — apparently other guests have noticed this too, because the property gets consistently high marks for sleep quality. The thoughtful design and quality furnishings enhance your stay considerably.
The Neighborhood Vibe
Zwierzyniecka Street itself is pretty perfect, actually. You’re in Old Town but not on one of those super touristy streets where every other building is a souvenir shop. There are local cafes where you’ll hear more Polish than English, and the morning walk to get coffee feels authentically Kraków. The tram connections are solid if you want to venture beyond the center, though honestly, you might not need to — most of what you came to see is within walking distance. This neighborhood strikes an ideal balance between accessibility and authentic local character.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t trying to be fancy, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You get the independence of having your own place with the reliability of a well-run accommodation. The location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff — it’s genuinely that good. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend (couples seem particularly happy with the setup) or just want to experience Kraków like a temporary local rather than a hotel guest, this place delivers on what it promises. Plus, you’ll probably sleep better than you do at home, which is saying something when you’re in a new city. The combination of comfort, location, and authentic atmosphere makes this property exceptional.
Hotels near me in Krakow offer convenient access to the medieval center, where guests can easily walk to St. Mary’s Basilica, Cloth Hall, and traditional Polish restaurants.

Reviews of Wawel Cracow Old City Apartments – Friendhouse Apartments
Sara from United Kingdom (9/10)
Wawel Kraków City Apartments provided a wonderful stay! The accommodation was small and cozy but surprisingly spacious enough to fit up to 8 people comfortably.
Located in a beautiful old tenement house, its high ceilings and classic parquet flooring added a timeless, elegant touch, enhancing the authentic Kraków experience. The kitchen area and hallway were quite roomy, and the balcony was a nice touch. The secure entry made us feel safe, and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful.
The heating was especially considerate—whenever we returned from a day out exploring the city, the apartment was always warm and welcoming, which was much appreciated on colder days. The hosts also thoughtfully provided towels, teas, and coffees, and the check-in process was seamless with clear instructions. They were always prompt in responding to any questions we had.
The location is unbeatable, just a short walking distance to major attractions like Wawel Royal Castle, Sukiennice, Wisła River, the main square (Rynek Główny), and St. Mary’s Basilica. Public transport options, including trams and buses, are also conveniently close by.
The combination of its tenement charm, comfort, and prime location made it a fantastic choice, and I would definitely stay here again!Marisa from Malta (7/10)

Jan from Finland (9/10)
Great location and very big apartment. Nice living room, big sofa and big enough dining area for five people. Lot of tv-channels. Big bathroom with bathtub, two toilets. Enough kitchen-tools for five people. The functioning air-condition machine cooled almost the whole apartment. Bakery, cafeteria, restaurants and mini-markets very near.
Alfie from United Kingdom (8/10)
Location of the apartment was extremely near the main centre, and all the parts of the apartments worked well.
Fluffi from Austria (9/10)
Very clean and spacious apartment in good location and in walking distance to most attractions. The only letdown was the extended roadworks on the street leading to the apartment. I know this is necessary and not really a disturbance as the apartment is set back from the road by a courtyard. The noise is not very bad if you are out all day like in our case as it is quiet again at night. It did not really spoil our stay and I would book it again as everything else was very good.
Frazer from United Kingdom (7/10)
It wasn’t too far of a walk to the main square and it had 3 bedrooms with air conditioning. 1 bathroom and a separate toilet which was good.
