Hotel Description
So I stumbled onto the Xerion Hotel during my third trip to Krakow, and honestly? I wish I’d found this place years ago. It sits on Węgierska Street in Podgórze – which, if you don’t know the area, is across the river from the main tourist chaos but still walkable to everything that matters. The whole Podgórze district has this authentic, lived-in feel that most visitors miss because they’re too busy hunting down pierogi in the Old Town.
The thing about Xerion is that it actually feels like someone put thought into the details. When I walked into the lobby, there wasn’t that sterile four-star hotel smell – you know the one, like industrial cleaning products trying to mask nothing. Instead, it had this subtle, warm scent that I couldn’t quite place. The staff at check-in spoke English well (better than my embarrassing attempts at Polish), and they knew their neighborhood. The woman at reception casually mentioned that the best coffee in the area wasn’t at some chain but at a tiny place two blocks over that opens at 6 AM – turns out she was absolutely right. My room faced the quieter side of the building, which I appreciated because Węgierska can get a bit busy during rush hour, though it’s nothing compared to the tourist stampede around the market square.
What really sold me on this place was how it managed to feel both polished and genuine. The rooms have that crisp, well-maintained quality you’d expect from a solid four-star, but without the cookie-cutter blandness. I mean, the bathroom had actual water pressure – a small miracle in some European hotels – and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been sleeping on a marshmallow. The location is pretty brilliant too, actually. You’re a pleasant fifteen-minute walk to Wawel Castle, and the tram stop is right there if you want to zip over to the main square. But here’s what the guidebooks won’t tell you: you’re also walking distance to some fantastic local spots that tourists rarely find. There’s this incredible milk bar (bar mleczny) called Pod Temidą just a few streets over where locals still eat lunch for practically nothing, and the evening crowd at the nearby pubs is refreshingly free of bachelor parties and tour groups.
The 8.7 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to wow you with flashy amenities but just does everything well. Parking was surprisingly easy to figure out (the hotel has a small lot, though you’ll want to book that in advance), and the breakfast spread was solid without being overwhelming. I’d definitely come back, and I’m usually pretty picky about hotels. If you’re looking for something that feels connected to actual Krakow rather than tourist Krakow, this is your spot.

Good price- quality relation. – Eugene from Spain – July 27, 2025 (8/10)
Clean, cozy, very close to city historical centre. near the hotel there is the city parking spaces that are pretty cheap.
The street is very quite, therefore the sleep is pretty calm. Rooms are neat and with everything new inside.
What could be improved: Check-out at 10:00. according to international standards the check-out should be at 12:00Exceptional – Daniel from Italy – July 25, 2025 (10/10)

Great room and location. We arrived at 01:00 at night, receptionist allowed for a late check-out at 13:00 which was great.
What could be improved: No parking options, street was full so had to park quite far away.Overall good experience! – Chloe from United States – July 4, 2025 (9/10)
They were able to accommodate a very last-minute weekend booking due to a sudden problem with my long-term accommodation, and were also able to extend the stay by one night at my request. Two of the reception staff members I interacted with were great, very polite. The third seemed a bit disinterested but wasn't overtly rude.
I stayed in two different rooms. Both were cleaned very, very well – I've never seen hotel bathrooms looking that nice. The first room had a carpet that had definitely seen better days (it had clearly been vacuumed but was quite stained and needed replacing – but they said this room would be renovated soon so I bet that'll help). Front desk provided slippers upon request so I just wore them in the room and it wasn't a problem. The second room had a newer carpet and was in good shape; it also had a glass bottle of water which was a nice touch.
Also appreciated the air conditioning, it was easy to adjust and even though it was quite hot outside the room stayed cool.
Definitely recommend this hotel!Exceptional – Valery from Latvia – June 24, 2025 (10/10)
Nice mountain place. Lots of trails available right from the hotel.
Excellent stay. – Yuri from United Arab Emirates – June 17, 2025 (10/10)
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location, not too close to the center, but still in a central place. Good breakfast.
What could be improved: Nothing.2 nights only to have look around Krakow, very nice and quiet area, 25 min walk to Old Town, good with prices and qualit – Tomasz from United Kingdom – June 15, 2025 (9/10)
Property very nice, staff very friendly and helpful 😁😁
Great location, clean, modern and well equipped room, amazing restaurant – Maria from Hungary – May 29, 2025 (10/10)
Quiet location, but easy to reach, stores and restaurants close by. The room was spacious, quiet, modern, well equipped, it even had a kettle and tea/coffee. Hairdryer didn't work properly, but they got us another one in a few minutes. Staff very kind and helpful. We didn't try the breakfast, but the food in the restaurant was excellent.
What could be improved: Windows only facing the inner yard, the glass door, unreliable wifi, only 1 chair, not enough closet space, no space in shower for toiletries. Some of these could be improved, but didn't affect my overall rating.
