Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place – XXL Apartment Old Town isn’t going to win any design awards, but honestly? That’s kind of missing the point. What you’re getting here is a solid, no-nonsense base right in the heart of Krakow’s Old Town, and I mean *right* in it. Podzamcze street puts you maybe a three-minute walk from the main square, which is actually perfect because you’re close enough to stumble back after a night out at one of those basement bars near St. Mary’s, but far enough that you won’t have drunk tourists singing outside your window at 2 AM.

The 24-hour check-in thing isn’t just marketing fluff – it actually works, which was a lifesaver when my flight got delayed and I rolled in around midnight. The apartment itself is… well, it’s exactly what it says on the tin. Big (hence the XXL, I suppose), clean enough, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes like some places I’ve stayed in this part of Europe. The kitchen’s pretty basic but functional if you want to grab some pierogi from the market on Grodzka street and heat them up. You know what I really appreciated? The windows are decent quality, so even though you’re in the tourist zone, it’s not like trying to sleep in a nightclub. I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage clattering by – it’s cobblestones, what do you expect – but it’s more charming than annoying.

Here’s the thing about staying right in Old Town versus somewhere like Kazimierz or across the river – yes, you’ll pay a bit more, but you save so much time and energy. I could walk to Wawel Castle in literally ten minutes, hit up all the main sights without dealing with trams or taxis, and there’s a decent grocery store just around the corner on Senacka street if you need supplies. The building itself is one of those typical Old Town affairs – narrow stairs, thick walls, that slightly musty smell that every historic building in Central Europe seems to have. It’s not luxury, but it’s authentic in a way that those sterile chain hotels near the train station just aren’t. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the shower actually has proper water pressure. Trust me, after walking around on cobblestones all day, that hot shower hits different. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably. It’s not fancy, but it does exactly what it promises without any surprises.

  The location was fantastic. Very close to everything. Like the perfect middle of the old town and kazi.
  
  What could be improved: Not any real issues. The only complaint was the stairs to the bed. Very steep. Not ideal if you need to pee in the middle of the night. Or coming back after a few beers. But I wouldn't say it ruined anything.

  The bedrooms were perfect – spacious, clean and plentiful. The common area held us all comfortably and there was a massive platform tv. Fantastic value for money. The location was incredible. Very good size fridge.
  
  What could be improved: The property said it could hold 12, but it is more intentioned for 10. The two extra beds are literal couches which are comfy, however as they are in the common area they are subjected to noise. There were two bathrooms and only one shower which was difficult for 12. The kitchen consisted of two hot plates and the sink, but it did it’s job. On our day of arrival, we were greeted by a friend of Mr Sebastian which unnerved us but in the end it proved fine.
