I was honestly skeptical when I first booked this place on Zyblikiewicza Street – I mean, the address wasn’t even fully listed online, which had me wondering what I’d gotten myself into. But stepping into this studio apartment, I actually felt like I’d stumbled onto something pretty special tucked away in Krakow’s Old Town.

The space itself is deceptively clever – someone really thought through how to make a studio work without feeling cramped. The bed sits in this sort of alcove that doesn’t dominate the whole room, and there’s actually decent counter space in the kitchenette (which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to juggle coffee, pastries from the bakery downstairs, and your phone charger). What really got me though was stepping out onto Zyblikiewicza in the morning. This street has this perfect balance – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main square and all that tourist energy, but the street itself stays surprisingly quiet. I mean, you’ll hear some trams in the distance and the occasional delivery truck, but nothing like the chaos you get right on Floriańska or near St. Mary’s Basilica.

The building has that solid, old Krakow feel – thick walls that actually keep sound out, high ceilings that make the studio feel more spacious than the square footage suggests. Honestly, the only thing that took some getting used to was the European-style shower setup (you know, the kind where you really need to pay attention to the curtain situation), but that’s hardly unique to this place. What I loved most was how the owner clearly knows this neighborhood – they left notes about which café opens earliest (crucial information), where to grab groceries without the tourist markup, and even warned me that Wednesday mornings get a bit hectic with the flower market setup nearby. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-juggling you sometimes get with these apartment rentals. During my stay in late September, the area hit that sweet spot where most of the summer crowds had cleared out, but the weather was still perfect for walking around the Old Town without a heavy coat. You’re close enough to everything that matters – Wawel Castle is maybe a fifteen-minute stroll, the Jewish Quarter is easily walkable – but far enough from the main tourist drags that you feel like you’re actually staying somewhere locals might live.
