Hotel Description

You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Kraków, and apartamenty Stary Kraków GO really surprised me. When I first saw the address on Rakowicka – honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect since it’s not right in the dead center of the Old Town square where all the tourists pile up. But that actually turned out to be perfect.

The thing about this place is it gives you that authentic Kraków feeling without the constant noise of horse carriages clattering past your window at 6 AM (trust me, I’ve been there). You’re still technically in Old Town – like, genuinely Old Town, not some marketing stretch of the definition – but you’re on this quieter residential street where actual locals live. I mean, there’s a little grocery store right around the corner where the owner remembered my terrible Polish pronunciation by day three, and you can walk to the main square in maybe eight minutes if you’re not rushing. The Planty gardens are basically at your doorstep, which is honestly one of the best things about the location since you can cut through them to get anywhere.

The apartments themselves feel like someone actually thought about how people live, not just sleep. The kitchen isn’t just for show – I actually cooked a few meals there, and everything worked properly. The space feels bigger than most hotel rooms you’ll find in this area, and the windows are these gorgeous old-style ones that open wide (though you might want to close them if there’s a football match on – Polish fans are… enthusiastic). What really got me was the attention to detail – like, there are proper hangers in the closet, not those weird hotel ones that don’t come off the rod, and the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the place. Small things, but they matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two.

I’ll be honest, the building itself is one of those beautifully renovated old Kraków buildings where you can feel the history in the walls, but everything that needs to work actually works. The hot water doesn’t take forever, the heating keeps up with those chilly spring evenings, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the place doesn’t smell like cleaning chemicals or that generic hotel air freshener. It just smells clean and maybe a little bit like old wood, which somehow feels right for Kraków.

The area comes alive differently than the touristy parts too. In the evenings, you’ll see families walking to the nearby parks, students heading to bars that locals actually go to, and there’s this wonderful little café about two blocks away where they make the best zapiekanka I’ve had outside of the main square. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond the Old Town – maybe check out Kazimierz or take a day trip to the salt mines – you’re actually in a better spot for public transport than if you were staying right in the center. That 9.5 rating isn’t just because it’s pretty (though it definitely is) – it’s because someone clearly put thought into making this place work for people who want to experience Kraków, not just photograph it.

  We really like Stary Krakow apartment it was clean very cosy and really well placed only 15 minutes walk to old town,check in was seamless…..has security 24hr in reception and everything you may need in an apartment.
