Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Cracowapart Loft Gertruda? It’s tucked on this quiet little street that most tourists completely miss, even though you’re literally a three-minute walk from the main square. I mean, św. Gertrudy is one of those cobblestone streets where locals actually live their lives – you’ll see people walking their dogs in the morning and hear Polish conversations drifting from windows, not just groups of tourists with selfie sticks.

The loft itself is honestly impressive in that understated way that makes you feel like you discovered something special. It’s in a beautifully restored building (fourth floor, so yeah, there are stairs – though I think there’s an elevator too), and the space feels genuinely designed rather than just furnished. The ceilings are high enough that you don’t feel cramped, and there’s this really nice balance between modern comfort and keeping some of that old Krakow character. What I loved most was how quiet it stays at night – even on weekends when Floriańska Street is buzzing with people heading to bars, you’re far enough removed that you actually get decent sleep. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you want to grab ingredients from the little market on Basztowa and make breakfast instead of paying tourist prices every morning.

Here’s the thing though – and this is something you only figure out after staying in Old Town a few times – the location is actually perfect for people who want to be in the heart of things without dealing with the chaos. You can walk to Cloth Hall or St. Mary’s in minutes, but you’re also close enough to venture into Kazimierz (the Jewish quarter) on foot when you want better restaurants and a more local vibe. Plus, if you’re planning day trips to Wieliczka or Auschwitz, the main train station is totally walkable from here. I noticed the host really knows their stuff too – they gave recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots, including this little wine bar on Grodzka that I never would have found otherwise. Honestly, with a 9.7 rating, I was expecting maybe some hype, but it really does deliver on being a proper base for exploring Krakow without feeling like you’re staying in a hotel lobby.

The concierge service in Krakow can arrange exclusive castle tours, secure classical concert tickets, and organize visits to nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Memorial.

Reviews

  • Beautiful apartment in an excellent location with a wonderful and helpful host. – Laura from United States – July 4, 2025 (9/10)

The apartment is beautiful, clean, and very well located with easy walking to Stare Miasto as well as Kazimirez. Host Witold was very responsive and helpful with recommendations for things to do as well as providing assistance for any issues we had. We also appreciated having good air conditioning during a few hot days. Wonderful stay.

What could be improved: The one issue involved needing a key to unlock the main door, but host helped us resolve that issue.

  • Exceptional – Daniel from Australia – June 22, 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is beyond reproach, exceptional in every way. Clean, excellent facilities, beautiful, well maintained. Its hard to think of an aspect in which the cracowapart loft gertruda falls short. The location, right next to the Krakow Old Town, and a fifteen minute walk from Krakow Grzegórzki train station mean this apartment is the perfect location for travellers, and is well connected to both the airport and the Krakow Główny station for intercity train arrivals. I cant wait to stay here again

The apartment is cozy, recently renovated. All windows overlook a quiet courtyard. The distant sound of trams does not bother at all. There is everything you need for living in it. A comfortable bed with a good mattress. It is located in the center, a ten-minute walk from the main attractions of the city.
