Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Krakow, but this duplex on Morsztynowska really caught me off guard – in the best way possible. When I first walked up to number 27, honestly, the building doesn’t look like much from the street. It’s one of those classic Old Town structures that blend right into the medieval backdrop, but once you’re inside? Complete different story.

The apartment itself is actually split across two levels, which I wasn’t fully expecting despite the name. Downstairs you’ve got this surprisingly spacious living area that doesn’t feel cramped like so many Krakow rentals do, and the kitchen is – well, it’s actually functional, not just some token setup with a mini fridge. Upstairs, the bedroom has these windows that face away from the main tourist drag, so you’re not dealing with drunk backpackers at 2 AM singing whatever they think passes for Polish folk songs. Trust me, that matters more than you’d think, especially during summer when the Old Town basically never sleeps. What really sold me on the place, though, was how close you are to everything without being right in the chaos. You’re maybe a three-minute walk to the main square – I mean, you can literally hear the trumpet call from St. Mary’s Basilica every hour if you open the windows – but Morsztynowska itself is quiet enough that you can actually relax. The locals use this street as a shortcut to avoid the tourist crowds, so you get to see real Krakow life happening right outside your door. There’s this little bakery about fifty meters down that opens at 6 AM, and honestly, their rogale are better than anything you’ll find near the Cloth Hall for twice the price.

The apartment comes with all the stuff you actually need – good Wi-Fi (I worked from there for three days without issues), decent water pressure, and heating that works properly, which isn’t always a given in these old buildings. Check-in was smooth too; none of that awkward waiting around on the street with your luggage while someone tries to find keys. I will say the stairs are a bit steep if you’re hauling heavy bags, but that’s pretty much standard for any Old Town place that wasn’t completely gutted and rebuilt. What impressed me most was how the owners managed to keep the character of the building – you know, the thick walls, the old-style windows – without sacrificing comfort. You’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Krakow without dealing with medieval plumbing or drafty rooms. And at a 9.4 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they nailed that balance.
