Great Polonia Kraków Old Town Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Great Polonia Kraków Old Town on Mikolajska Street, you immediately get that “I’m in the real Kraków” feeling. This three-star hotel sits right in the medieval heart of the city, and I mean literally — you’re about a two-minute walk from the Main Market Square. The building itself has that classic Polish charm without trying too hard, and honestly, the location more than makes up for any fancy amenities you might find elsewhere.
The Perfect Old Town Spot
Here’s what I love about staying here — you can stumble out the front door and be at St. Mary’s Basilica before your morning coffee kicks in. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just marketing fluff; couples especially seem to get it, rating the spot even higher for romantic getaways. You know what’s great? You’re close enough to everything that matters, but Mikolajska Street itself isn’t one of those tourist-packed thoroughfares where you can’t sleep at night. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying in a real neighborhood.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but exactly what you need after a day of wandering cobblestone streets. The windows actually open (which isn’t always a given in older buildings), and if you’re lucky enough to get one facing the courtyard, it’s surprisingly quiet. The beds are decent, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, you’re not here to hang out in your room anyway, right?
Morning Fuel
The continental breakfast gets the job done — nothing revolutionary, but solid basics like fresh bread, cold cuts, and coffee that’ll actually wake you up. What I appreciated was the timing; they start early enough that you can fuel up before the tourist crowds hit the main sights. The breakfast area has this cozy, no-nonsense vibe that somehow feels very Polish to me. You’ll find yourself chatting with other travelers about their plans for Wawel Castle or the Jewish Quarter.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place that’ll wow you with a fancy spa or rooftop bar, but it nails what actually matters when you’re exploring Kraków. The staff knows the area inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best pierogi spots and tell you which streets to take for the prettiest walk to the castle. That 7.8 rating reflects exactly what this place is: reliable, well-located, and honest about what it offers. When you’re spending your days getting lost in one of Europe’s most beautiful old towns, coming back to a comfortable bed in the heart of it all is pretty much perfect. The restaurant nearby serves authentic local cuisine, and the convenient access to public parking makes arrival hassle-free.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Krakow at least two months ahead for major events like cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near Market Square.

Very friendly staff, they changed our booking in the last minute without any further charge. The room was big and the location was perfect and 100% safe, just in the centre of old town. Keep in mind that the breakfast is standard but they can also serve a vegetarian version of it.
Emma from United Kingdom (8/10)
Very central location, excellent price. Staff friendly and polite. Bed was very comfortable! We booked an apartment, the rooms were huge and we had the bonus of 2 toilets. The breakfast was not to our palates but was very generous and well presented.
