So I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel Columbus, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come from lowered expectations. This place actually punches way above its weight class, and I mean that in the best possible way.

The lobby hits you with this warm, lived-in feeling that’s hard to fake. There’s character here – the kind you get when a hotel’s been around long enough to figure out what actually works for travelers, not just what looks good in photos. The front desk staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out, which honestly made all the difference when I needed dinner recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling pressure, and they actually remembered my name the next morning (small thing, but it matters).

What really sold me on this place was how it felt like staying somewhere locals might actually recommend to their visiting relatives. The rooms aren’t trying to be Instagram-perfect, but they’re thoughtfully put together – good lighting where you need it, outlets in the right spots, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I mean, I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where the pillows felt like decorative rocks. The bathroom had that hot water pressure that makes you want to stay in the shower way too long, and the towels were actually fluffy, not those thin things that barely dry your hands. Street noise wasn’t an issue either, which can be hit-or-miss in this area depending on where you end up.

Here’s the thing that really impressed me though – it’s the little stuff they get right. The coffee in the lobby doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting there since yesterday, there’s always someone around if you need something without feeling like you’re being watched, and the whole place just feels… comfortable. Not fancy-comfortable where you’re afraid to touch anything, but actually comfortable like you can relax and not worry about every little thing. That 8.9 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there a few days – it’s the kind of place that grows on you, where you start noticing all these thoughtful touches that someone clearly put real effort into. I’d definitely stay here again, and honestly, I’ve already recommended it to a couple friends heading to the area.

  The location is simply gorgeous. The center is within walking distance. Very convenient transportation. Large spacious room. Friendly staff.

  Everything. Superb. I cannot fault this hotel. Just been with a group of friends and it was fantastic. Effortless check in that took five minutes for five rooms. Friendly professional staff. The rooms were absolutely spotless, comfy beds, fridge, aircon, towels changed daily and plenty of wardrobe space. Breakfast was brilliant so much choice but my favourite, as on any holiday, is scrambled eggs and bacon! Here it was totally fresh and properly cooked, fantastic. About a two minute walk to the Jewish Quarter with its fantastic bars and restaurants and about a ten minute walk to the main square. An Uber from the airport is about £12. I’ve been to Krakow 9 times and this is the best place I have stayed. Well done to all the staff, chefs and management.

  Lovely clean hotel. Perfect location between old town and Jewish Quarter. Trams directly outside our hotel. Didn't hear any trams from our room. Breakfast was good, had my favourite cereal whilst on holiday, good selection of meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurt and cooked breakfast. Staff was pleasant. Not much of English channels on the TV, only news so watched netflix on my phone. WiFi was good.
