Hotel Polonez Overview
You know what struck me first about Hotel Polonez? It’s got this unpretentious charm that feels refreshing in a city where so many places are trying way too hard. Tucked away on Reymonta Street in the Krowodrza district, it’s one of those spots that locals actually know about – not because it’s flashy, but because it just works. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Polish architecture from decades past, and honestly, there’s something comforting about walking into a place that doesn’t feel like it was designed by a committee of Instagram influencers.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the neighborhood. I mean, you’re not right in the thick of the Old Town madness (which, let’s be honest, can get exhausting), but you can easily catch a tram or walk about 15 minutes to get there. What I really appreciated was being in an area where you see actual Krakovians going about their daily lives – there’s a great little bakery two blocks down where the bread smell hits you from halfway down the street, and the nearby park along the Vistula is perfect for morning walks when you need to clear your head. The staff seems genuinely pleased when guests discover these local gems, and they’re quick to share their own recommendations without that rehearsed tourism-board enthusiasm.
Here’s the thing about three-star places – they can either feel like they’re apologizing for not being fancier, or they can embrace what they do well and nail it. Polonez definitely falls into the latter category. The rooms are clean and comfortable without trying to be something they’re not, the Wi-Fi actually works (tested extensively during a rainy afternoon), and the breakfast spread, while simple, includes some really good local touches that you won’t find at the chain hotels. I was particularly impressed by how quiet it stays at night – the street doesn’t get much traffic, and the windows seem to do their job blocking out city sounds. The front desk folks speak solid English and seem to actually enjoy helping guests figure out their Krakow plans, which makes a bigger difference than you’d think. That 8.7 rating makes perfect sense when you realize this place delivers exactly what it promises, just does it really well.

Very helpful staff, very good location (near the universitary campus, a park vis-a-vis, 10 minutes walk to the centre), private parking and free (maybe too small, but we could park in the campus for the first night, with the receptionist’s help),all very clean, free coffee and tea all the time near the reception, two bottles of water for free in the room, big room, big bathroom, A/C. Breakfast was very good, with surprises every day, local products and foods. Everything was OK.
What could be improved: Maybe some smell of old, probably from the carpet. Nothing really bothering.Pleased that we experienced Krakow. – Leslie from Australia – September 12, 2024 (8/10)
Breakfast was okay and parking quite easy.
What could be improved: No real issues.
