Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Feniks Fragola Apartments” I thought it sounded a bit fancy for what turned out to be this perfectly charming place right on the main square. The name’s actually kind of endearing once you’re there, and honestly, the location is everything you’d want without being one of those places that costs a fortune just because they can slap “historic center” on their website.

What really got me was how the apartments manage to feel like actual homes rather than those sterile hotel rooms where everything’s bolted down. I mean, you’ve got proper kitchens – not just a mini-fridge and a sad little coffee maker – so you can actually grab fresh stuff from the market in the square and make breakfast without spending half your travel budget on hotel dining. The windows are these gorgeous old things that open wide onto the square, and yeah, it can get a bit lively during festival season (which seems to be most of the summer, honestly), but there’s something magical about having your morning coffee while watching the whole town wake up below you. You know what surprised me most? How quiet it actually gets at night – I was expecting constant noise being right on the main square, but after the restaurants close up, it’s surprisingly peaceful.

The whole setup feels like someone’s grandmother decided to rent out her best apartments, if that makes sense. Nothing’s trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly like it should. The shower pressure is actually decent – always a gamble in older buildings – and they’ve got this thing figured out where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with real character without having to deal with all the annoying quirks that usually come with “authentic” places. I loved that you could walk to literally everything worth seeing, but also escape the tourist crowds just by heading up to your room. The staff (well, I think it was the owner most of the time) genuinely seemed to care that you had a good time rather than just checking boxes, and they had those kinds of local recommendations that you can’t find in guidebooks – like which bakery opens earliest and where to get the best wine that locals actually drink. With a 9.1 rating, clearly other people are picking up on the same vibe. It’s one of those places where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

  The apartment was incredible, the view onto the Market square was amazing- just remember your ear plus for the trumpets! Would definitely stay again.

  Perfect location, in the heart of the old town, with a great view! Very clean, cosy and beautifully decorated. The apartment provided everything necessary for the stay. Also, the bed was really comfortable. Definitely, I would choose it again!

  Everything was fine. Nice accommodation, good access, nice apartment, great location, beautiful view, great terraces. But the only thing to complain about was that the bathroom smelled all the time – probably the sewage from the shower. This was the only thing unpleasant

  We absolutely loved the apartment. So central 10 seconds to the square from the door. Even tho we was so close to it all the apartment was very quiet. We had a side view of the square and we had a perfect view of the tower we’re there was a man who came out every hour to the top and played the trumpet. We could see him from our balcony.
  The accommodation felt really safe there is an access code to gain entry to the building then once you get to your number apartment there is another access code to get in the block and then there were a few apartments inside which are letters. Then it’s another key code to gain access. So we was floor 6, door 17 apartment L.
  The decor is beautiful and the smell on arrival was so nice and lasted the whole stay.
  There was a book inside the apartment with tips of the best restaurant which they reccomend tours and so on.
  They have all kitchen amenities if you want to cook yourself a meal but we didn’t use it. There’s a kettle and also coffee tea sugar. They also have a fridge and dishwasher.
  Down the end of the hall was an iron and ironing board, washing machine with detergent already in the room to use and clothes maidens to hang your washing out.
  Balcony was perfect really big with a table and two chairs and inside they had the cushions to take out.
  The apartment was really clean and o don’t think we would stay anywhere else now when we come.
  Everything was perfect and we are coming back to bring our two children here to stay.
  I didn't actually realise that the apartment's were only rated 3* by booking. I do think these should be 5* they are excellent value for money too. They look exactly like the photos provided on the site.

  All went well. Reception staff were very good and helped sort out a change in booked tours. Although the room had no view it did not matter to us as we were always out. The room was clean and tidy and with a good shower and television. The location could not have been better. All the communication from the apartments before arrival was clear and prompt. This apartment was recommended to us by our daughter who stayed there last year. If again in Krakow will definitely stay at the apartments again.
