Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Krakow, and this little gem tucked away on Jakuba street genuinely surprised me. The name’s a bit of a mouthful – Plac Nowy za rogiem Kazimierz Kraków by Rozenhug – but it basically means “around the corner from Plac Nowy” which is exactly what you need to know. You’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Kazimierz’s best food squares, where locals actually eat (not just tourists taking photos). I mean, you can smell the zapiekanka from these famous food stalls drifting through your window some evenings, which honestly made me hungry more than once.

What I love about this place is how it feels like someone’s stylish apartment rather than a sterile hotel room. The building’s got that classic Krakow character – you know, those thick walls and high ceilings that keep things cool even in summer – but the rooms are done up with this clean, modern touch that actually works. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s real attention to detail, like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets near the bed. The bathrooms are compact but well thought out, with surprisingly good water pressure, which you can’t always count on in these old buildings.

Here’s what really sets it apart though – the location gives you the best of both worlds. You’re technically in Old Town, so you’ve got easy access to the main square and all that, but you’re on the Kazimierz side where things feel more authentic and less touristy. I could walk to Szeroka street for morning coffee, hit the Jewish quarter for lunch, then be back in the main square for dinner without breaking a sweat. The tram stop on Starowiślna is maybe three minutes away if you want to venture further out. Parking’s always tricky in this area, but there are a couple of paid lots nearby if you’re driving – just don’t expect it to be cheap. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood too, which is refreshing. They pointed me toward this tiny bookshop café I never would’ve found otherwise, and their restaurant recommendations were spot-on, not just the usual tourist traps. With a 9.1 rating, you’d expect it to be good, but sometimes those numbers don’t tell the whole story – in this case though, it’s well deserved.

  A lovely flat right in the centre of the Jewish quarter. Excellent location, only a few minutes walk to the Old Town and round the corner from Plac Nowy where you can get some amazing Zapiekanki. Flat clean, well equipped and quiet.

  Great place to stay. It is located in the Jewish quarter with lots of nightlife. We heard a small amount of noise from the street but not much to bother us. It’s only a 10 minute walk into the main old town. It was super clean and had everything we needed. We utilised the washing/drying machine. It would have been good to have a clothes rack so items we didn’t want to put in the dryer but we made it work by hanging them in the open closet.
  
  What could be improved: We got a bit hot and couldn’t figure out how to turn the radiators off other than opening the windows.

  Almost everything was perfect. Good value for money, you have all necessary stuff including appliances. The apartment is designed with taste and it’s just pleasant to be there.

  What could be improved: We got ripped off with the prices charged by the local taxis – zl150 to travel 9kms outside the city to visit Kraków Zoo. Recommend you use the Bolt app to order your taxis – brilliant service – zl25 chaeged on the way back.

  침대 방이 주방과 분리되어 있으며, 넓고 깨끗했어요. 화장실에 세탁기가 있는데 건조기능도 있으니 아주 요긴하게 썼어요. 오전 일찍 공항에 도착해서 짐을 들고 다닐 생각에 난감했었는데, 방 준비를 서둘러 마치고 빠른 입실을 허락해 주어서 정말 감사했어요. 집 바로 앞에 소형 마트도 있어 편리함. 20분쯤 걸으면 올드타운 접근 가능함.
  
  What could be improved: 엘리베이터가 없어요. 장기 여행으로 짐이 무거웠는데, 숙소가 3층인지라 짐이 올리고 내리느라 죽을 뻔.

• Appartement de bon goût dans un quartier sympathique – Yves from France – August 25, 2024 (8/10)

  Bon choix de s'installer dans le quartier juif, car très vivant et agréable alors que la vieille ville est submergée par les touristes. L'appartement est décoré avec goût. Je regrette juste le manque d'une simple cafetière filtre par exemple. Quand vous ouvrez avec la clé, il faut pousser très fort la porte pour entrer.
  
  What could be improved: ATTENTION pour les personnes venant en voiture. N'utilisez jamais (même en payant au parcmètre) les places de parking dans les rues entourant l'appartement, elles sont réservées aux résidents du quartier. Il faut se garer (par exemple) dans l'artère principale, partout ou il n'y a rien d'écrit en polonais sous le panneau de parking P. Sinon, votre voiture sera bloquée par la police avec une amende de 100 à 500 zlotys et 3 heures d'attente de perdues à régler le problème avec la police. J'en ai fait l'experience et même avec des policières très sympathiques, ce n'est pas agréable.
